Paradox
The entire realm of strategy is pervaded with paradox. Trend is matched by counter-trend. For every profound truth supported by "facts", there is an opposite with equal profundity and strength of data. Competitors are allies, customers are collaborators. Boundaries are subjective and constantly unfolding. Conventional definitions have lost meaning. Best practice to a past standard is no guide for a dynamic future. Prediction is impossible; optimization to change is an oxymoron. We are overloaded with information, yet it is only the continual creation of new information that keeps a system alive. What is "known" is a diminishing source of value when the internet connects us to the biggest brain in the world.
